Graduate students participate at 3rd CF/FAC In-house Student Research Review

The winners from both undergraduate and graduate category with the panel of evaluators and CF Faculty members

Graduate students from the Department of Aquaculture submitted 16 research papers in participation to the 3rd CF/FAC In-house Student Research Review held at the Freshwater Aquaculture Center (FAC) Conference Room, Central Luzon State University, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija on August 23, 2019.

There were three research papers for the oral presentation and 13 research papers for the poster presentation. Dennis D. Tanay, a graduating Ph.D. in Aquaculture student, bagged the best oral presentation with his dissertation on “Carbon–Nitrogen Ratio Manipulation in Rural Ponds and Microbial Community Response to Organic Carbon Supplementation” under the advisory of Dr. Jose S. Abucay. Mr. Jesus Paolo B. Cullado, (Ph.D. in Aquaculture student) won the first place for best poster presentation, for his case study in the course AQ813 (Management of Aquatic Flora in Fisheries and Aquaculture) entitled “Naic Fish Sanctuary (NFS), How Is It Now?: A Case Study” while Ms. Grace M. Abdala (M.Sc. in Aquaculture student) won the second place, for her case study entitled “Value Chain Analysis for Nile Tilapia from Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija” in the course AQ735 (Aquaculture Economics). Also, an award for best paper was given to Xyrra Jeremiah C. Mazo, a graduating M.Sc. in Aquaculture student, for her thesis on “Aquashade Technology and Its Impact on the Water Quality, Stress Response and Reproductive Indices of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus L.).

The awardees received certificates of recognition and cash prizes.
