CLSU Laboratory High Schools

The three CLSU Laboratory High Schools were established in 1974 under the presidency of Dr. Amado C. Campos. The establishment was among the many educational development programs financed under the World Band through the Educational Development Project Implementing Task Force (EDPITAF).

First named as Barrio Development Schools (BDS) which was patterned from the Contado curriculun piloted in Bai, Laguna, these schools served as outreach program of the university giving formal education to students particularly to the out-of-school youth. They operated under the umbrella of the REsearch and Development Program of the university.

Since these were at their initial stage, to facilitate the implementation of the program and to help them design and evaluate the activities specifically in the technology and community involvement, they were supported by the president's wife. Dr. Felomina F. Campos, the then Director of Research of the University.

The Barrio Development Schools formally started during the school year 1974-1975 in three barangays namely: Porais, San Jose City (transfered to its present site, Sitio Binabuyan if barangay Pinili, after 2 years), Palusapis, Munoz and Bibiclat, Aliaga, all in the province of Nueva Ecija.

In response to the dynamic changes and cope with the demands if time, the university implemented modifications on its thrust and programs. Thus in June 1993, the supervision of the three Outreach Schools was transfered to their present mother unit, the College of Education, which the aims is to serve as laboratory schools and training ground fir college students taking up BSEd, BSAEd, BSAExEd and now, including BSEd and BSHE. With this new development, the schools were renamed CLSU Laboratory High Schools (CLSU-LHS).
