College of Fisheries
The College of Fisheries is located in the north-eastern portion of the Central Luzon State University which is about 1.5 kilometers from the main campus CLSU in Munoz, Nueva Ecija 150 kilometers north of Manila. The College of Fisheries is the only college that offers a BS Fisheries program in Central Luzon (Region III).

The College constitutes one of two fisheries units in the University, the other being the Freshwater Aquaculture Center(FAC). Working hand in hand, these two units implement the university’s programs and activities in fisheries and aquaculture such as instruction, research training, extension and production. At present, the two units are sharing technical staff and facilities. The faculty devote their time to academic duties in the College and the Department of Aquaculture, Institute of Graduate Studies and research at the Center.

With about three decades of existence, the College was able to set two unprecedented records in the history of CLSU for being the first college to have two Ten Outstanding Young Man (TOYM) awardees as faculty members and the first college to produce the first Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University. In 2006, it ranked number one among the topnotchers in the Fisheries Technologist Board exam in the country.

The College is one of the top performing Fisheries institutions in the country based from the performance of its graduates in the Fisheries Technologist Board Exam administered by the Professional Regulation Commission f the Philippines.

The College of Fisheries was established in 1976 to fill the need for trained manpower vital to the development of the country’s inland fishing sector. It offered a work oriented curriculum leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Inland Fisheries (BSIF) which was considered the only one of its kind in the country then.

In June 1987, the College offered a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries (BSF) with major field in Inland fisheries and minor marine fisheries which aims to provide the students a well rounded training which encompasses the two major areas of the country’s fisheries industry, namely: inland fisheries and marine fisheries. Later on July 24, 1991, it was renamed from College of Inland Fisheries (CID) to College of Fisheries (CF).

On May 19, 2006, a revised BSF curriculum focusing on four general areas, namely: aquaculture, capture fisheries, aquatic resources and ecology, and aquatic post harvest was approved under BOR Resolution 29-2006 for implementation starting June 2006.

The revised BSF curriculum addresses the minimum standards and requirements set by the CHED-Technical Panel in Agricultural Education (TPAE) in Fisheries, the focuses of the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) Fisheries Technologist Board Examination and most importantly the needs of the fisheries and aquaculture industry in the country.

In 2001, the College of Fisheries is one of the Center of Excellence (COE) in Fisheries under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
